The title says it. The subject will be dreams and evolution, evolution in dreams.
The subject will be satisfaction.

While trying to get some sleep in a very hot summer night, I was thinking how strange and beautiful life is. Except for the hot and mosquitos part, of course. I know, I know, it was supposed to be a serious article! So here it is.
***
We are born and raised, educated by family and school, society has a great impact. We work, we wed, have children (not necessarily in this order), grandchildren, we retire, we enjoy our last years and we pass on to “something else”. I know, sounds boring and reductive like this, but it’s not.
The actual point would be this. How satisfied are you with your life at this point of the journey?
Do you enjoy it? Do you like your job? Are you successful? What does successful mean to you? Are your children well raised? Have you found the purpose of your life? Have your dreams come true? (Have you become a fireman?!?)
Yep, a lot of questions.
So I will start telling you about myself. (You could not wait, huh?) 🙂
Born 32 years ago, introverted child, educated in some of the best schools in town (really appreciated the great efforts that my parents made to ensure me and my brother with the best education possible!).
Started working while still attending university and really liked it. After graduation decided to move to another country searching for something new. Started a new life in a new location. Having my family away was an interesting challenge. It made me stronger and more cynical somehow. (Yeah I know, not such a good thing but if you live abroad, you can understand what I am talking about.)
Half-introverted and reserved adult. Stranger in a country where people are not as flexible and willing to accept diversity, as they would like to appear. Job adventure starts after the master course. New rules, new working hours, a relationship, responsibilities and challenges. Breaking up, changing home, tough years. Breaking up again, hitting rock bottom. Growing up.
And yet, despite all the difficult times I’ve been through (me and some other billion people), I am convinced that everyone of us has a destiny. A destiny made up by every one of us. I have never been a fatalist, I don’t like being a person who endures life. I like to be the actor of my own play. I like being responsible. I like taking decisions. But I had to learn that there are things that don’t depend on me, so I made peace with this obvious truth and accepted things I couldn’t change. I have learned to express my feelings and thoughts. Not easy but necessary. I have learned what trust means.
I have the same job for almost 8 years now. Some would say it’s too long. I say I’m getting better every day!
I try doing my best every day in every way and making a difference in peoples’ lives. I like smiling and I smile a lot. I like observing folks on the street. I am passionate about helping people to uncover their potential.
Some things didn’t go as planned. My dreams (and the ones of my grandmother) of becoming a doctor didn’t realize. I didn’t become an astronaut. I didn’t become a ballet dancer. I didn’t become a diva! I didn’t become many things I used to dream about. But I am the best version of myself in this precise moment.
You know what Mae West says: “I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.”
I’ll leave you with this beautiful dialogue from the comedy City Slickers (1991)
Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?
[holds up one finger]
Curly: This.
Mitch: Your finger?
Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean shit.
Mitch: But, what is the “one thing?”
Curly: [smiles] That’s what *you* have to find out.
Only one question left.
What is that only thing that makes the difference for you?
